The Against Me! touring machine continues to roll on in support of their January, 2014 release, Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Petaluma's historic Phoenix Theater ... with its gum-speckled plywood floors and skate ramps ... proved the perfect backdrop for a raucous Saturday night that had people crammed against the stage and singing along for the entire 70 minute set.

The Against Me! touring machine continues to  roll on in support of their January, 2014 release, Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Petaluma’s historic Phoenix Theater … with its gum-speckled plywood floors and skate ramps … proved the perfect backdrop for a raucous Saturday night that had people crammed against the stage and singing along for the entire 70 minute set.

Laura Jane Grace and crew kicked things off with a fiery performance of FuckMyLife666 which got the already-pumped crowd moving.  Covering all of the bases in their catalog, Against Me! still managed to pull out 6 of the 10 tracks off of TDB before wrapping the main set up with a particularly crushing rendition of The Ocean that replaced the groove of the album version with pure fury before leaving the stage.

Certainly that wasn’t the end of things.  Chants of “one more song” gave-way to the most enthusiastic members of the audience breaking into Sink, Florida, Sink.  Laura finally came back for a solo rendition of Baby, I’m an Anarchist before giving the crowd what they had asked for (things getting notably louder for “they make all the right reasons to fuck it up, you’re gonna fuck it up” in addition to the “whoa-oh-ohs”).  The band invited the fans on stage (or rather they invited themselves) for the set-closer which saw Laura taking one enthusiastic person to the floor with a massive bear hug.

It would have been cool to hear Two Coffins played live … maybe in place of Baby, I’m an Anarchist … but regardless, it was impossible to find fault with either the setlist or performance.
