Nothing like a Sunday matinée at 924 Gilman St. to take care of that polished feeling I get from shooting the big bands on the big stages. Throw one of the best hardcore bands out there, Ceremony, into the mix and it makes wrestling with the challenge of Gilman’s lighting worth it every time as the insanity ensues.

Bay Area hardcore band, Ceremony, held their record release show for their Rohnert Park LP at the legendary 924 Gilman St. in Berkeley this past Sunday. After what was already a long weekend, the early show was welcome and the additional light through the skylight was a big help in shooting the opening acts.
Like previous times I’ve seen Ceremony, their performance was jaw-dropping. After tape roll of Into The Wayside Part II, the band launched into Sick. This song blows my mind every time I hear it … starting slow it builds into a pummeling rage; I couldn’t think of a better way to start their set. I don’t have enough adjectives in my vocabulary to adequately describe what I witnessed so hopefully the photos will give you a sense of the chaos that ensued over the course of their set.
The new album was for sale at the show on clear and blue vinyl. For us old-schoolers that still listen to CD’s, they sold out quickly so I had to pick up mine from Amazon.
