Summer Slaughter Tour | July 29, 2011

A night of extreme metal courtesy of Summer Slaughter Tour came to the Fillmore with heavyweights The Black Dahlia Murder and Whitechapel topping the bill. With the first band starting promptly at 3pm, the early start time didn’t seem to keep the die-hards away and by the time Oceano hit the stage at around 4:20, there was already a respectably-sized crowd on board for what was still to be a long night ahead.

Unexpected highlights of the night were PowerGlove and their brand of video game metal which provided some much appreciated humor to the otherwise dark lineup and Six Feet Under whose front man Chris Barnes roared and squealed like a stuck pig (in a good way) through his mass of dreads. Even now, I’m still cleaning the metal out of my ears.
