In Solitude

Supporting headliners Down, In Solitude set the vibe for their set with a few dozen lit incense sticks taped to the stage monitors … a bit of kitsch that was clearly unnecessary. Vocalist Hornper took the stage with the remnants of some sort of dead animal (Swedish fox?) wrapped around his neck and launched into the first song that demonstrated that the scented smoke would do no good in contributing towards crowd relaxation.

Those Down fans that were wise enough to get there early were treated to some killer rock and roll that was not nearly as out-there as what the incense may have initially led them to believe. And with bonus points for throwing a Samhain cover (Mother of Mercy) onto their setlist, I’ll definitely be catching these guys the next time they pass through town.
