Fear Factory wrapped up the current leg of their North American tour at San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom. The tepid turn-out for the Tuesday night show had Burton C. Bell at one point commenting, “It’s not the size of the audience, it’s the size of the heart in the audience.” Certainly a nice sentiment but also clear that the band was having a good time at what turned out to be one of the most intimate shows I’ve seen at the Regency. At one point a technical issue with a lead-in tape (ironically) for Mechanize had Burton keeping the crowd entertained with a joke.
What should you do if attacked by clowns? Go for the juggler!
Despite having a new album coming out June 5, Fear Factory stuck with the tried and true, only performing one new song (Recharger) off of The Industrialist. Regardless, the band deserves major credit for not holding anything back and it is pretty much a guarantee that the rabid fans that were spazzing out up front went home sated.
If you missed them this time around, cross your fingers that you’ll get another chance when they return to North America for some more touring in July and August … and hopefully we’ll all get to hear more of the new stuff live when that happens.
