Primus

Primus hit San Francisco’s Warfield for their annual two nights of New Years frivolities. Tailored for the die-hard fan, Claypool promised early in the event that those attending the second night would be treated to an almost entirely different setlist (except for Sabbath’s Electric Funeral which is worth hearing at least two nights in a row). Living up to it’s billing of “Primus 3D,” the now-standard dim stage lighting and giant inflatable spacemen of previous Primus tours were complemented by an impressive 3D video (glasses passed out at the door) and surround sound that surely kept the odd assemblage of hippies, punks, hipsters and metal heads rapt regardless of their chemical and/or alcohol-induced state of mind.
