If you’re planning on catching one of Sixx:A.M.’s upcoming tour dates, do yourself a favor and get there early to catch the openers, VAMPS. Having already proved their mettle in their home country of Japan, these guys are set on firmly planting their “Sex Blood Rock N’ Roll” flag on American soil.
From the looks of last night’s crowd in San Francisco, the word is already out on these guys and by all appearances, the entire row of people against the barricade when VAMPS took the stage for their 8 pm set, were already die-hards and ready to show their support for a band for whom they have likely been counting the days until they hit town. When they blasted into their first song, Evil, it was pretty clear why that was the case … these guys oozed pure, unadulterated rock and roll.
Frontman Hyde ate it all up, exuding the swagger of an experienced frontman. The old fans such as the pair of women in the back wearing VAMPS bikini tops ate it all up but even those that knew nothing about the band were clearly into the spectacle and it didn’t take a cover of Mötley Crüe’s Live Wire to get them moving … they were already well on their collective way to appreciating what these five guys were bringing to the stage. You couldn’t ask for a better way to tee up a sold-out rock show.
